In traditional simulation of synchronousgenerator the generator is driven by prime mover. This methodcan effectively simulate the electromagnetic couplingcharacteristics of synchronous generator connected to powergrid. However, there are such defects in traditional simulationsynchronous generator as the complexity of control system,nsufficient flexibility and the high implementation cost. Forthis reason, a method of designing simulative synchronous
generator is proposed based on the principles of virtualsynchronous generator (VSG), in which the filter reactor isused to equivalently substitute thearmature resistance andsynchronous reactance of synchronous generator and the inertiacharacteristics, frequency response characteristics andvoltageregulation characteristics of synchronous generator areeffectively simulated by control system. The proposed methodsimplifies the design of experimental grid-connection systemfor wind power simulation and it possesses good flexibility andfeasibility. Using the proposed methodasimulativesynchronous generator set with capacity of 20kVA is designed,nd based on existing experimental platform of simulationwind power generator an experimental grid-connection systemfor simulative wind power generators is constructed. Under thecondition of load disturbance the Matlab/Simulink basedsimulation results are contrasted to experimental results
